Whats New at the Palau Conservation Society

New Faces, New Goals and New Programs
Much has changed at Palau Conservation Society in the last few years, although our strong commitment to Palau’s environment and our communities remains, and continues to grow. Here is some of the “new” news as we continue into 2005.

New Board Members
Members of PCS elected one new and reelected two Board of Directors Members during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on December 2, 2004. The new Board Member, Julita Tellei, has served on the PCS Board in the past. After the AGM, the Board Members elected new leadership:

  Chairperson: Moses Uludong
  Vice Chairperson: Maura Gordon
  Secretary: Julita Tellei
  Treasurer: Kaleb Udui Jr.

Since the meeting, a new vacancy on the Board has been filled by Senator Caleb Otto, MD.

New Executive Director
Following the AGM and the election of new Board Members, a new Executive Director was confirmed. The new Executive Director is Tiare Turang Holm, who had been serving as Acting Executive Director and had previously been PCS’s Deputy Director. She replaced Belhaim Sakuma, a PCS founder, who retired from PCS in August 2004.

Remengesau announced that June 14 would become Palau Conservation Day in honor of the founding of PCS.
